100 Babel Fish - Text2
Package contents
Photolith clear in black. Hand letrasetted black text on clear animation cel was reversed out in the darkroom to become these 2 sheets of clear in black photolith sellotaped together one above the other.

This item was used under the rostrum camera as the rolling text exposure run at the bottom of the screen for the Babel Fish sequence. This was fixed to one of the rostrum table's 4 pan bars with the table rotated 90 degrees for vertical travel over the inset back light glass.

The bottom and top parts of the text were masked with black card while the next new line was revealed frame by frame using a strip of black card dragging a colour filter gel with a clear gap at its leading edge. As each line was completed the pan bar was rolled up in small increments frame-by-frame before starting to reveal the next incoming line.

The old tape is frail as usual and I have used a single small piece of masking tape to temporarily prevent the 2 sheets from separating completely. Obviously the new owner can repair with new tape if they wish but my policy is not to try and repair the ravages of production and age. I hope the photos show this adequately.
