Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal layout drawing in black pen on tracing paper -12 x 12 cm.
Drawings on tracing paper or animation key paper were taped in position for the camera setup and traced with Rotring pen in black ink onto clear cel. This was then reversed by contacting onto photolith film in the darkroom for camera artwork to be back-lit under the animation rostrum camera. All these various pieces of artwork were originally fixed onto paper layout keys or cels which were taped to strips of 35mm film punched with peg registration holes. The aeons of time since they were created means that the sellotape or masking tape used to fix items in place for registration has long since dried up, become brittle, and separated. |
